My awesome, Grandchildren, and Annika, Kaleigh, Kate, Gavin; whom I love and pray for every day: “…Thomas, was not with them when Jesus came. The other disciples said, “We have seen the Lord.” So Thomas said, “UNLESS I SEE in His hands the print of the nails, and put my finger into the print of the nails, and put my hand into His side, I WILL NOT BELIEVE…His disciples were again inside, with Thomas…Jesus came, and said, “Peace to you!” Then He said to Thomas, “Reach your finger here, and look at My hands; and reach your hand here, and put it into My side. Do not be UNBELIEVING, BUT BELIEVING.“ Thomas answered and said to Him, “MY LORD AND MY GOD!” (John 20:24-28) We can see from Thomas’s response that he indeed accepted and believed, it just seemed that HE WANTED TO BE SURE.
On another occasion, when Jesus was talking about leaving, “…if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also. And where I go you know, and the way you know.” THOMAS SAID TO HIM, “Lord, we do not know where You are going, and HOW CAN WE KNOW THE WAY?” (John 14:3-5) I don’t see unbelief in this response, just a lack of understanding. “Jesus said to him, “I am the WAY, TRUTH, AND THE LIFE. No one comes to the Father EXCEPT THROUGH ME.” (John 14:6)
Perhaps Thomas learned from Jeremiah’s writings,
CALL TO ME, AND I WILL ANSWER YOU, AND SHOW YOU GREAT AND MIGHTY THINGS, WHICH YOU DO NOT KNOW…(Jer. 33:3)
