“…though we walk in the flesh, we DO NOT WAR according to the flesh. For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but MIGHTY IN GOD for pulling down 1STRONGHOLDS…” (2 Corin. 10:3-4) 1ochurōma: an OPPOSING DEFENSE, anything not of God, on which one relies. A very good example of this was the Philistines relying on Goliath for their defense. “The Philistines stood on a mountain on one side, and Israel stood on the other side, with a valley between them. And A CHAMPION went out from the camp of the Philistines, named Goliath, whose height was six cubits and a span.” (1 Sam. 17:3-4) That would make Goliath 9’6” tall, his spear was about 2.5” in diameter and weighed 15 pounds. A javelin weighs 28 ounces, just for comparison. Whenever Goliath would come out and challenge Israel they would all run and hide. “…the Philistine said, “I DEFY THE ARMIES OF ISRAEL this day; give me a man, that we may fight together.” (1 Sam. 17:10) David heard this and said, “Let no man’s heart fail because of him; your servant will go and fight with this Philistine.” (1 Sam. 17:32) Saul tried to talk David down but he said, “Your servant used to keep sheep, and when a lion or a bear came and took a lamb…I struck it, and delivered the lamb; and when it arose, I caught it by its beard, and struck and killed it. Your servant HAS KILLED both lion and bear; and this UNCIRCUMCISED PHILISTINE will be like one of them, seeing he has defied the armies of the living God.” (1 Sam. 17:34-36)
David, confidently went to face the giant, “…David said to the Goliath, “You come to me with a sword, with a spear, and with a javelin. But I come to you IN THE NAME OF THE LORD, David ran toward Goliath…slung a stone; and struck the Philistine, so that the stone sank into his forehead, and he fell on his face to the earth.” (1 Samuel 17:45, 48-49) Whatever kind of giant we’re facing we just need to face it in THE NAME OF THE LORD…
