Will, let us imagine a world where pain and suffering do not exist—an Eden if you will. What kind of world would this be? We know it would not have pain. There would be no tears, no death, no suffering. It sounds like a pretty nice place. Yet everything comes with a price.
We would lose our most fundamental ability, the ability to choose—to choose who to love, what to say, where to go, what to eat, what to wear, etc. We could debate whether it is better to have free will (choice) or never to have known choice. God created us in “His image” and “His likeness,” which means by design we are like Him and have THE ABILITY TO CHOOSE. We also have the ability to obey God. One very important thing the Word says to us is, “God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of POWER and of LOVE and of a SOUND MIND.” (2 Tim. 1:7) But Satan has taken God’s gift and corrupted it by using it against us. He does it by planting thoughts into our mind, thoughts of impending disaster and doom. He is behind all of those “what if” questions that tie us in knots of fear. That fear is caused by the devil!
So Will, here is the issue: do we choose God’s promise or the devils corrupted version of that promise? The Lord God almighty has given WILL SUTTON the spirit of “POWER” “Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and OVER ALL THE POWER OF THE ENEMY, and NOTHING Will, shall by any means hurt you.” (Luke 10:19)
