My dear brothers and sisters, of FaithLine: After Jesus talked about the parable of the sower and the seed the disciples wanted to know what it was about, Jesus said, “The sower sows the word.” (Mark 4:14) This is the first parable that Jesus compares the kingdom of God with, it is about a farmer tossing seed. The farmer’s seed lands: by the wayside, the stony ground, among thorns, and good ground.
- WAYSIDE: the devil snatches or rips the gospel of the kingdom out of the hearts of those who hear it.
- STONY GROUND: The seed sown could not take root because when tribulation or persecution arises for the word’s sake, immediately they stumble.
- AMONG THORNS: although the seed could plant and grow, it could not compete with the cares of this world, the deceit of riches, and the desires for other things entering in to choke the word, and it becomes unfruitful.
- GOOD GROUND: “those who hear the word, ACCEPT IT, and bear fruit: some thirtyfold, some sixty, and some a hundred.”(Mark 4:20)
Jesus spoke the Parable of the Sower to teach how important the STATE OF OUR HEART is to receiving the Gospel and how our salvation is proved by our CHOICES and ACTIONS after hearing the Gospel. We must be very PRAYERFUL, PREPARED and YIELDED TO THE HOLY SPIRIT as we both PRESENT the gospel and HEAR the gospel.
FaithLine, the bible says: “those who hear the word, ACCEPT IT, and bear fruit.”
