Amy, we have all done, thought or said bad things, which the Bible calls “sin.” “All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23). The result of sin is death, spiritual separation from God, “…the wages of sin is death…” (Romans 6:23) So, what’s the good news? God sent His Son to die for your sins, Amy! Jesus died in your place so you could have a relationship with God and be with Him forever. “God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, CHRIST DIED FOR US.” (Romans 5:8)
But here is a problem, Amy, “…if the gospel is hidden, it is hidden to those WHO ARE LOST, in whom the god of this world (the devil) has BLINDED the minds of the unbelieving ones, so that the light of the glorious gospel of Christ (who is the image of God) should not dawn on them.” (2 Corinthians 4:3-4) Satan attempts to get people to FALSELY PLACE THEIR TRUST IN THEMSELVES, or good works. He wants people to feel religiously satisfied, but without having a saving knowledge of Christ. “There is a way that seems right to a man, but the end of it is THE WAY OF DEATH.” (Proverbs 16:25)
We need to pray that God will release godly sorrow in Amy’s heart because, “…godly sorrow results in REPENTANCE that leads to SALVATION…but the sorrow of the world produces death.” (2 Corinthians 7:10)
