What would we do to get a lost loved one back to the Lord? Sometimes we just want to cry out “stop them Lord, RIGHT NOW and turn them around to You.” As we well know, it has to be their desire to get right with God, or they will be back at it again. Few things in the life of a lost loved one are as disheartening as the long struggle with persistent sins. This is particularly true when they may have experienced victory over sin in the past. We know God has the power to get rid of their sin, so why doesn’t He?
It may sound contrary, but sometimes victory over some sin tarries because God desires to teach them how to truly repent of that sin. God desires us to know not only how to walk in holiness, but also to obey His command, “…1rend your heart, and not your garments; Return to the LORD your God, For He is gracious and merciful, Slow to anger, and of great kindness; And He relents from doing harm.” (Joel 2:13) 1qâra‛: to tear. Yes, unfortunately sin can be a long time problem if AMY hasn’t learned how to truly repent of sin. So, we must mount a prayer vigil for God to fill her with GREAT GODLY SORROW that will work repentance to salvation. “Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts…Lament and mourn and weep! Let your laughter be turned to mourning and your joy to gloom.” (James 4:8-9)
