AMY, when you were your faith journey, there were ups, downs and unexpected turns. You found yourself going backwards spiritually. The Old Testament uses the term “backsliding” to speak about having been near to God but have allowed sin to take you away. When you backslid, you fell into a much less desirable condition. Moving away from Christ rather than toward Him. This lapse sometimes may be relatively minor and unintentional. You may have simply fallen off course through neglect by not praying, reading Scripture or keeping your focus on living for God. Other times, a believer may backslide by DELIBERATELY CHOOSING to indulge in sinful behavior. As we know, this type of backsliding can cause disastrous consequences. When you have gone astray, it’s important that you find your way back to Him. We are all praying that you’ll be ready to come back to God.
AMY when you are ready come back to God, it’s important to make God’s Word a habit. You can do this by getting into the Word every day. A really important step is to commit to reading your Bible regularly for a short period of time. Start with a commitment to read Scripture every day for a few weeks. While this is a great way to get started, you shouldn’t stop there. Jesus said, “If you continue My Word, then you are truly disciples of Mine” (John 8:31) The Bible tells us, “Trust in the LORD with ALL YOUR HEART AMY, And lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths.” (Prov. 3:5-6)
