Will, in order to appreciate and live for God’s glory, we must allow God to direct our lives by not allowing pride in us, “God 1opposes the proud but shows favor to the humble.” (Jam. 4:6) 1antitassomai: to range in battle against, to oppose. “Therefore SUBMIT TO GOD. 2RESIST the devil and he will FLEE FROM YOU. DRAW NEAR TO GOD and He will draw near to you.” (James 4:7-8) 2anthistēmi: to set one’s self against. It is indeed a terrible idea to oppose God but an awesome idea to resist the devil! The question is, do we have the power to resist the devil? “Behold, I have GIVEN YOU AUTHORITY (Will) to tread on serpents and scorpions, and OVER ALL THE POWER OF THE ENEMY…” (Luke 10:19) Jesus said to go and, “…proclaim ‘The kingdom of heaven is at hand.’ Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse lepers, CAST OUT DEMONS.” (Matt. 10:7-8) Remember this very important fact, “I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; FOR WITHOUT ME YOU CAN DO NOTHING.” (John 15:5) That’s why pride is such a problem…
