My dear brothers and sisters, of FaithLine: “…THE WORD OF GOD IS 1LIVING AND 2POWERFUL, and 3SHARPER than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner (recognize, or understand) of the thoughts and intents of the heart.” (Heb. 4:12) 1zaō: to live, breathe, be among the living. 2energēs: active, efficient, forceful. 3tomōteros: sharp enough to cut by a single stroke. The word of God has indeed proven itself to be sharper than any two-edged sword. It separates the truth from the lie by sharply cutting to the quick. It can cause someone to dramatically change the direction of their life when its warning is applied. The Word of God can separate spiritual things which seem completely intertwined, such as the soul and spirit. This is not meant to be literal, as the Bible often uses these terms interchangeably. Rather, this is a graphic explanation of how completely God’s Word can distinguish between the godly and ungodly. To man, the soul and spirit seem indistinguishable, but the Word of God can—metaphorically—even discern between these. This incredible “cutting” power of Scripture is therefore a tool to separate our very thoughts into GOOD AND EVIL. We must know this so we can repent and get our hearts right. “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but HE WHO DOES THE WILL OF MY FATHER IN HEAVEN.” (Matt. 7:21)
The Spirit of God came upon God’s chosen people at certain times and divinely inspired them in the words they wrote so that, without interference from their own personalities or intellects, THEIR WRITINGS WERE FROM GOD. “…prophecy never came by the will of man, but holy men of God SPOKE AS THEY WERE MOVED BY THE HOLY SPIRIT.” (2 Pet. 1:21) Our almighty and all powerful God certainly has the ability to keep His word pure and true. “The words of the LORD are PURE WORDS, Like silver tried in a furnace of earth, Purified seven times…
