When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned, Nor shall the flame scorch you.” (Isa. 43:1-2) 1ga’al: To act as and do the part of a kinsman-redeemer, to buy back and bring back.
This redemption was illustrated in Naomi’s daughter-in-law Ruth. When Naomi’s husband died, then her two son’s died as well. Ruth made the decision to go home and live with Naomi. She was led by the Lord into a relationship with Boaz the grandfather of David. “Boaz said to the elders and all the people, “You are witnesses this day that I have bought from the hand of Naomi…RUTH THE MOABITESS…I HAVE ACQUIRED AS MY WIFE, to perpetuate the name of the…you are witnesses this day.” And all the people who were at the gate said, “We are witnesses.“ (Ruth 4:9-11)
