“No temptation has overtaken you EXCEPT SUCH AS IS COMMON TO MAN; but GOD IS FAITHFUL, who will not allow you to be tempted BEYOND WHAT YOU ARE ABLE, but with the temptation will also MAKE THE WAY OF ESCAPE, THAT YOU MAY BE ABLE TO BEAR IT.” (1 Corin. 10:13)
When we give our lives to the Lord we discover this desire to want to know what God expects of us. One of the first and most important things we learn is that God expects us (actually commands us, you know the first and great commandment ) to love Him with “…all your heart…soul…mind and strength.” (Mark 12:30). This is extremely important because everything we could ever need comes from God.
The devil will do all he can to tempt us to disobey God and love the things of the world more than we love God, “Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father IS NOT IN HIM. For everything in the world—the lust (desiring something you cannot have) of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—COMES NOT FROM THE FATHER but from the world.” (1 John 2:15-16) When we are told not to love the world, the scripture is referring to the world’s corrupt value system, which is controlled by “…the god of this world who has BLINDED THE MINDS of the unbelieving so that they might not see the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ…” (2 Corin. 4:4)
OUR FAITHFUL GOD WILL MAKE A WAY OF ESCAPE FOR US SO WE CAN RESIST TEMPTATION…
