One-fifth of Americans are religiously unaffiliated — higher than at any time in recent U.S. history — and those younger than 30 especially seem to be drifting from organized religion. A third of young Americans say they don’t belong to any religion. This verse seems appropriate for our time, “So I sought for a man among them who would stand in the gap before Me, but I FOUND NO ONE.” (Ezek. 22:30)
God is looking for people with HUMBLE HEARTS; people who will sacrifice everything for the cause of Christ and who will stand in the gap as servant-leaders for their families, friends and for Christ’s Church. “The LORD has sought for Himself a man after His own heart…” (1 Sam. 13:14) What does it mean to be a person after God’s own heart? It means your life is in harmony with the Lord. What is important to Him is important to you. What burdens Him burdens you. When you are a person after God’s heart, you are deeply sensitive to spiritual things. People after God’s own heart will, “…BE DOERS OF THE WORD, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man observing his natural face in a mirror; for he observes himself, goes away, and immediately FORGETS WHAT KIND OF MAN HE WAS.” (James 1:22-24)
“…BE PATIENT, ESTABLISH YOUR HEARTS, FOR THE COMING OF YOUR LORD DRAWS NEAR.” (Jam. 5:8)
