My dear brothers and sisters, of FaithLine: “Vindicate (justify) me, O LORD, For I have walked in my integrity. I have also trusted in the LORD; I SHALL NOT SLIP. Examine me, O LORD, and prove me; Try my mind and my heart. For Your lovingkindness is before my eyes, And I HAVE WALKED IN YOUR TRUTH.” (Psalms 26:1-3)
We see David asking God to examine him, to look to the deepest part of what he is, his own heart. Why would David ask this? And, why would any of us ask it? The reason is simple. We cannot know our own hearts as well as God can. He indwells us, knows every thought, is aware of every feeling, and He understands us better than we do. If we ever needed anyone to reach down in the depths of our hearts to find out what is unholy so that it can be removed, it is God who can do just that.
God testified concerning David: “I have found David son of Jesse, A MAN AFTER MY OWN HEART; he will do everything I want him to do.” (Acts 13:22) A man after God’s own heart is one who seeks to actively live in obedience to God and is one who responds properly when confronted with his sin.
LET US MAKE A COMMITMENT TO LIVE AFTER GOD’S OWN HEART…
FaithLine, Let us agree, that: we must be “A CHILD AFTER GOD’S OWN HEART; and do everything He wants us to do.”
