Simply speaking, at the end of the age, the beginning of sorrows or birth pains/pangs will take place much sooner than the pains of travail/labor. Occasional abdominal discomfort or cramping is not uncommon in the early stages of a pregnancy. But unless the baby is going to be born prematurely, these pains have nothing to do with the severe labor pains associated with uterine contractions. The latter occur near the end of the pregnancy, just before the baby is born, and are much more excruciating. “…for you know very well that the day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night. While people are saying, “Peace and safety,” DESTRUCTION WILL COME ON THEM SUDDENLY, as LABOR PAINS ON A PREGNANT WOMAN, and they will not escape.” Paul goes on to say, “So then, let us not be like others, who are asleep, but let us be awake and sober. FOR GOD DID NOT APPOINT US TO SUFFER WRATH BUT TO RECEIVE SALVATION THROUGH OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST.” (1 Thess. 5:2-3, 6-9)
