My awesome, Grandchildren, and Annika, Kaleigh, Kate, Gavin; whom I love and pray for every day: “…these signs will accompany those who believe: in my name they will cast out demons; they will speak in new tongues; they will pick up serpents with their hands; and if they drink any deadly poison, it will not hurt them; they will lay their hands on the sick, and they will recover.” So then the Lord Jesus, after he had spoken to them, was taken up into heaven and sat down at the right hand of God. And they went out and preached everywhere, while the Lord worked with them and CONFIRMED THE MESSAGE BY ACCOMPANYING SIGNS.” (Mark 16:17-20) These verses have cause some controversy but they are all confirmed by other verses in the word. Some think that Jesus is telling us to pick up serpents But I think this is referring to what happened, “As Paul gathered wood, a poisonous snake, bit him on the hand. The people saw it and said, “A murderer, no doubt! But Paul shook off the snake AND WAS UNHARMED.” (Acts 28:3-5)
What I want to stress here is the fact that Jesus confirmed the preached word with “signs” following. SINCERE AND EARNEST PRAYER PRECEDING OUR MINISTERING THE WORD instead of how “beautiful” we can make it sound IS WHAT WILL CAUSE THE “SIGNS” TO FOLLOW. There is no illustration we can use that will have the same impact as blinded eyes being opened…
OH LORD, CONFIRM YOUR WORD AS WE PRESENT IT…
