My dear brothers and sisters, of FaithLine: We will soon be participating in a 21 day fast, so let’s look to see if it’s biblical. First, let’s define fasting. Here is a generally accepted definition of Fasting, it is a temporary renunciation of something that is good, like food, in order to INTIMATELY seek for something far better — NAMELY, GOD and our relationship with Him. Is fasting something that is mandatory for us as Christians? Jesus said: “WHEN YOU FAST, do not look gloomy as the hypocrites do…But WHEN YOU FAST, put oil on your head and wash your face, so that it will not be obvious to others that you are fasting, but only to your Father, who is unseen; and YOUR FATHER, WHO SEES WHAT IS DONE IN SECRET, WILL REWARD YOU.” (Matt. 6:16-18)
We just cannot imagine how pleasing it is to God when WE OBEY HIM…
FaithLine, the bible says: “WHEN YOU FAST…”
