“How great is the love the Father has given us so freely! NOW WE CAN BE CALLED CHILDREN OF GOD. And that’s what we really are! The world doesn’t know us because it didn’t know Him. Dear friends, now we are children of God. He still hasn’t let us know what we will be. But we know that when Christ appears, WE WILL BE 1LIKE HIM. We will see Jesus as he really is.” (1 John 3:1-2)
Oh, what a precious promise, “we will be like Him…” 1hómoios: similar in appearance or character. Jesus, who are we to deserve something like this? “The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that WE ARE GOD’S CHILDREN. Now if we are children, then we are heirs—heirs of God and CO-HEIRS WITH CHRIST.” (Rom. 8:16-17) How can it be, that we are God’s children and why do we need to be born again? Jesus replied, “Very truly I tell you, no one can see the kingdom of God unless they are born again…Flesh gives birth to flesh, but the SPIRIT GIVES BIRTH TO SPIRIT. You should not be surprised at my saying, ‘You must be born again.’ (John 3:3, 6-7)
WE ARE BORN OF THE SPIRIT WHEN WE ASK JESUS INTO OUR HEARTS…
