11-01-18 FaithLine Devotion KEEP ME FROM BEING PRESUMPTUOUS…

My dear brothers and sisters, of FaithLine: “Who can understand his errors? Oh make me pure from secret faults; and KEEP YOUR SERVANT BACK FROM PRESUMPTUOUS SINS; do not let them rule over me; then I SHALL BE UPRIGHT, AND I SHALL BE INNOCENT OF GREAT TRANSGRESSION.(Psa. 19:12-13)

A presumptuous sin is one we are disapproved of doing because we are purposefully and continually doing something that we have no right or authority to do. The psalmist shows us sin in at least two different forms: “secret faults” and “presumptuous sins.” One is like a trapdoor that swings out from underfoot, and the other is like a wide double-door inviting us in.

After we have been delivered from and have received victory over something that we were trapped in as a sinner, the devil loves to come back to us and tempt us to go back into it again. So, Paul asks us, “…now that you have come to know Godhow is it that you turn back again…” (Gal. 4:9) If this is something we are having trouble with we need to get help from a spiritual friend or our Pastor. Confess your faults to one another, and pray for one anotherTHE EFFECTUAL FERVENT PRAYER OF A RIGHTEOUS ONE AVAILS MUCH. (Jam. 5:16) Effectual: producing a desired result. Fervent: having great intensity of spirit. Avail: to put forth power. So we  can say it like this:

THE ONE PRAYING FOR US PUTS FORTH THE POWER TO PRODUCE THE DESIRED RESULT WITH GREAT INTENSITY OF SPIRIT.

FaithLine, the bible says: Confess your faults to one another, and pray for one another…”
