Hezekiah, “Hear the word of the LORD Almighty: The time will surely come when everything in your palace, will be carried off to Babylon. Nothing will be left, says the LORD. The word of the LORD you have spoken is good,” Hezekiah replied. For he thought, “THERE WILL BE PEACE AND SECURITY IN MY LIFETIME.“ (Isa. 39:5-8)
Isaiah came to Hezekiah and said to him, “What did you show the Babylonian king?” Isaiah then prophesied that because of Hezekiah’s pride, and selfish attitude, the kingdom of Judah would be taken in exile to Babylon. Hezekiah selfishly said that “as long as I live” there will be peace.
“Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility VALUE OTHERS ABOVE YOURSELVES, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others.” (Phil. 2:3-4)
Satan has so bombarded our society with a spirit of hardness, indifference and self-importance that we automatically think of our own interests first and others’ second. We want the chief seat, the top honors and the best advantages, without concern for anyone else. A sure sign of a selfish attitude…
GOD REQUIRES ALL TRUE CHRISTIANS TO ESTEEM OTHERS ABOVE THEMSELVES…
