My dear brothers and sisters, of FaithLine: “One of them, an expert in the law, tested Jesus with this question: “Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?” Jesus replied: “‘LOVE THE LORD YOUR GOD with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is 1like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself. ‘ALL THE LAW AND THE PROPHETS HANG ON THESE TWO COMMANDMENTS.” (Matt. 22:35-40) 1homoios: of equal rank, the same as. Jesus is maintaining that the whole Bible depends upon his two commandments of love. Everything in the Bible hangs upon these commandments of love, much as the wings of an airplane “hang” on the side of it enabling it to fly. The many words of Scripture boil down to one thing. They express God’s will: THAT WE LOVE GOD TOTALLY AND COMPLETELY, AND THAT WE LOVE OUR NEIGHBOR AS OURSELVES. Both of these commandments are very essential in our maintaining a healthy relationship with God. God is all about love. Love is like the first and last links of a chain, all the middle ones depend on them. True religion begins and ends in love to God and man. These are the two grand links that unite God to man, man to his fellow man, and man again to God.
“Love does no harm to a neighbor. Therefore 2love is the fulfillment of the law.” (Rom. 13:10) 2agapē: The love of God. God loves because that is His nature and the expression of His being. He loves the unlovable and the unlovely. GOD IS LOVE!!!
WE MUST DO WHAT IS MOST IMPORTANT TO GOD…
