British theoretical physicist Stephen Hawking made this statement: “Before we understand science, it is natural to believe that God created the universe. But now science offers a more convincing explanation. What I meant by ‘we would know the mind of God’ is, we would know everything that God would know, IF THERE WERE A GOD, which there isn’t. I’m an atheist.”
“People cry out when they are beaten down. They beg to be set free from the power of those who are over them. But NO ONE SAYS, ‘WHERE IS THE GOD WHO MADE ME?” (Job 35:9-10)
The entirety of atheism is contained in this response. Atheism is not a philosophy; it is not even a view of the world; it is simply a refusal to accept the obvious. Unfortunately, we live in a world in which the obvious is overlooked as a matter of principle.
“For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the LORD. “As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts…my word that goes out from my mouth: IT WILL NOT RETURN TO ME EMPTY, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.” (Isa 55:8-11)
