My dear brothers and sisters, of FaithLine: The mustard seed is one of the smallest seeds in the world. With the size of around 1 to 2 millimeters, For a first-century farmer, a variant of mustard seed the black mustard seed was the smallest seed that they had ever sown. Jesus used the mustard seed as an analogy for the Kingdom of God and He also encouraged His disciples to have mustard seed–sized faith. Why is the mustard seed important to believers of today?
“THE KINGDOM OF HEAVEN IS LIKE A MUSTARD SEED, which a man took and planted in his field. Though it is the smallest of all seeds, yet when it grows, it is the largest of garden plants and becomes a tree, so that the birds come and perch in its branches.” (Mat 13:31-32)
As the ambassadors of Christ we need to be about “planting” this essential seed. We plant, we water, God WILL MAKE IT GROW…Now, what about our faith?
The disciples were having a problem casting out a devil and wanted to know why, Jesus said to them: “Because you have SO 1LITTLE FAITH. Truly I tell you, IF YOU HAVE FAITH AS SMALL AS A MUSTARD SEED, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. NOTHING WILL BE IMPOSSIBLE FOR YOU.” (Matt. 17:20) 1apistia: unfaithfulness, faithlessness, unbelief. In the KJV it correctly says: “BECAUSE OF YOUR UNBELIEF…” The devil has been very successful at stealing, killing and destroying our faith (John 10:10). How do we know this? Read the 14th chapter of John, see if we are doing these things promised by Jesus…
So, how do we increase our faith? “…FAITH COMES FROM HEARING, and hearing by THE WORD OF CHRIST.” (Rom 10:17)
