12-26-17 FaithLine Devotion WHO WERE THESE MEN…

My dear brothers and sisters, dedicating your lives to singing for Jesus: The wise men, also known as magi, were men belonging to various educated classes. Our English word magician comes from this same root. But these wise men were of noble birth, educated, wealthy, and influential. They were philosophers, the counselors of rulers, learned in all the wisdom of the ancient East. The wise men who came SEEKING THE CHRIST CHILD WERE NOT IDOLATERS; THEY WERE UPRIGHT MEN OF INTEGRITY. They had apparently studied the Hebrew Scriptures and found there a clear transcript of truth. The Messianic prophecies of the Old Testament must have claimed their attention, and among these they found the words of Balaam:

…there shall come A STAR OUT OF JACOB and A SCEPTER SHALL RISE OUT OF ISRAEL. (Num. 24:17)

Then Micah said: But you, Bethlehem Ephrata, though you be little among the thousands of Judah, OUT OF YOU HE WILL COME TO ME THAT IS TO BE RULER IN ISRAEL; (Micah 5:2)

Then the wise men said: And you Bethlehem, in the land of Juda, are not the least among the princes of Juda: for OUT OF YOU SHALL COME A GOVERNOR, that shall rule my people Israel. (Matt. 2:6).

On the night of Christ’s birth, a mysterious light appeared in the sky which became a luminous star that persisted in the western heavens and the wise men said:

Where is he that is born King of the Jews? for we have seen his star in the east, and ARE COME TO WORSHIP HIM. (Matt. 2:2).  Thank you Lord for leading these wise men TO REVEAL AND WORSHIP him who was the LORD OF LORDS AND KING OF KINGS! LET’S BE WISE AND follow their lead!

IT IS OUR TIME TO COME AND WORSHIP THE LORD OF LORDS AND THE KING OF KINGS!

FaithLine, the bible says: “We will be his people, and God himself will be with us and be our God.”
