“I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the SPIRIT OF WISDOM AND REVELATION, SO THAT YOU MAY 1KNOW HIM BETTER.” 1epignōsis: epi; a sign or mark, gnosis; intimacy, so the word means “a mark of intimacy” that mark is the spirit of wisdom and revelation.
Paul goes on: “I pray that THE EYES OF YOUR HEART MAY BE ENLIGHTENED in order that YOU MAY KNOW THE HOPE to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in his holy people, and HIS INCOMPARABLY GREAT POWER for us who believe.”
Paul is praying for us to be well informed, personally knowing the matchless awesome power of God, which is: “…THE SAME as the mighty strength he exerted when HE RAISED CHRIST FROM THE DEAD and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly realms”
Does Paul personally know this power? Yes, remember Eutychus, who was sound asleep, he fell to the ground from the third story and was picked up dead. Paul went down, threw himself on the young man and put his arms around him, prayed for him and RAISED HIM FROM THE DEAD! (Acts 20:10)
This power is: “FAR ABOVE ALL RULE AND AUTHORITY, POWER AND DOMINION, and every name that is invoked, not only in the present age but also IN THE ONE TO COME. That’s our realm…
“…GOD PLACED ALL THINGS under Christs feet and appointed him to be head over everything for the church, which is his body, THE FULLNESS OF HIM who fills everything in every way.” (Eph. 1:17-23)
This is a prayer from Paul that we would know and experience this INCOMPARABLY GREAT POWER…
I PRAY THAT THE EYES OF YOUR HEART MAY BE ENLIGHTENED IN ORDER THAT YOU MAY KNOW THE HOPE TO WHICH HE HAS CALLED YOU!
