“…the Helper, the HOLY SPIRIT, whom the Father will send in my name, he will TEACH YOU all things and BRING TO YOUR REMEMBRANCE all that I have said to you.” (John 14:26)
After suffering from a stroke that completely disabled me for about five months, I discovered that memory issues were a problem. Being a God called minister of the gospel, that presented a challenge for me. I had memorized several chapters and scriptures from the bible and was just starting to publish regular devotions. Then when I recovered and tried to resume my ministry I realized that my memory was not cooperating! So, I cried out to the Lord and He brought the above scripture to my attention! The Holy Spirit did indeed begin to bring to my remembrance things I had learned from the word. He is so awesome!!!
“…the Spirit of truth…will GUIDE YOU INTO ALL THE TRUTH…and he will tell you what is yet to come. He will glorify me because IT IS FROM ME that he will receive what HE WILL MAKE KNOWN TO YOU.” (John 16:13-14)
Our being baptized in (or filled with) the Holy Spirit is very essential because the devil…“…comes only to STEAL AND KILL AND DESTROY; I have come that they may have life, and HAVE IT TO THE FULL.” (John 10:10)
The devil tries to steal our desire to hide God’s word in our heart, kill our passion for the word and destroy our effectiveness. How will he do this?
“…there will be false teachers among you. They will secretly introduce destructive heresies, EVEN DENYING THE SOVEREIGN LORD who bought them–bringing swift destruction on themselves.” (2 Pet. 2:1)
So, how do we protect ourselves?
“…do not worry about how you will defend yourselves or what you will say, for THE HOLY SPIRIT WILL TEACH YOU at that time what you should say.” (Luke 12:11-12)
God never intended for us to figure out the steps of our journey without him. In truth, how we fulfill our calling and how we succeed doing what we are directed to do are GOD’S RESPONSIBILITIES. Our responsibility is to seek and obey His guidance and directions.
I thank you Holy Spirit for bringing things to my remembrance…Bill Stockham
