“How can a young man keep his way 1pure? By keeping it ACCORDING TO YOUR WORD.” (Psa. 119:9) 1zakah: containing nothing that does not properly belong
When our lives are transformed (Greek: metamorphoō) the word “metamorphose” comes from this, which means to change one’s form.
“Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is–HIS GOOD, PLEASING AND PERFECT WILL.” (Rom. 12:2)
When one is “conformed” it means that they try to comply with rules, standards, or laws but there is a problem with that because:
“You were taught, regarding your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires…” (Eph. 4:22)
How do we get rid of these deceitful desires???
“…we all…are being transformed into his [Jesus’] image with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord…” (2 Corin. 3:18)
When we confess and ask for forgiveness of our sins, WE ARE TRANSFORMED, born again! We become a brand-new creation in Christ and our names are written in the Lamb’s book of life! Where does purity come in?
“…Jesus also suffered…to make the people holy through his own blood.” (Heb. 13:12)
Jesus prayed this for his followers concerning His crucifixion:
“For them I 2sanctify myself, that they too may be truly sanctified.” (John 17:19) 2set apart, or to make holy or pure; consecrate.
So, we may KEEP OUR WAY PURE by being born-again and then becoming sanctified!!!
Help us Lord to keep our way pure before you…Bill Stockham
