WHAT SHOULD WE DO?

“The sea was getting rougher and rougher. So, they asked Jonah, “WHAT SHOULD WE DO to you to make the sea calm down for us?” (Jonah 1:11).

So, here is the story: Jonah decided to do his own thing instead of doing “God’s thing” and you see when we go against God there is no way for us to come out as winners! The soldiers asked Jonah:

“What have you done?” They knew he was running away from the LORD, because he had already told them so.(Jonah 1:10)

Jonah then informed them that the only way they could be saved was to throw him overboard.

“Then they cried out to the LORD, “Please, LORD, do not let us die for taking this man’s life…then they took Jonah and threw him overboard, and THE RAGING SEA GREW CALM.” (Jonah 1:14-15)

We know the story, Jonah was swallowed by a great fish, where he repented and was vomited out to complete his calling. As a result, more than 120,000 souls were saved! Here is the question, what should we do with the calling that God has issued to us? We may choose to obey or to turn away! We see the extremes God will go through to get us on track if we choose to turn away! Know this, along with God’s calling comes HIS EQUIPPING US for just what we need to fulfill that calling!

“For the gifts and the calling of God are 1irrevocable.” (Rom. 11:29)

1ametamelētos: not to be revoked or recalled; unable to be repealed or annulled; unalterable: an irrevocable decree.
