Yesterday, I STRUGGLED IN PRAYER about what to write in my morning devotion about the scripture the Lord inspired me with: “God is our refuge and strength, an EVER-PRESENT HELP IN TROUBLE…” (Psalms 46:1)
The Lord led me to the story of Robert de Bruce and how he prayed and the Lord saved him using a spider’s web. Later that day I received this text message from my daughter’s mother-in-law: “I loved the devotion today as always. Robert de Bruce was my 19th great grandfather-Blake’s 20th and the kids (my grandchildren’s) 21st”. As I thought about this, the Lord reminded me of the great trouble my daughter, Amy was headed for. An ungodly boy used my daughter and she became pregnant, as a junior in high school, the boy hung round for a while continued to take advantage as my wife and I diligently sought the Lord. God delivered her and saved her, Camden was born and soon developed Guillain-Barre syndrome, could no longer walk or move his arms, we were told by the doctor that he would probably never walk again and sent him home from the hospital. My large family is a praying family (we have witnessed many miraculous answers to prayers), we all began to diligently seek the Lord. Well, just after being home a few days, we heard a ruckus in the hall and all the kids were running up and down the hall, including Camden! Soon, a wonderful man, Blake, came into Amy’s life, they were married! Blake, included Camden in the ceremony and later adopted him, they went on to have 4 more children and as Robert de Bruce’s descendant, Blake has prayed a web of protection over his family! This is a prayer I pray for my family…
“Now I COMMIT YOU TO GOD and to the word of his grace, which can BUILD YOU UP and give you an inheritance among all those who are sanctified.” (Acts 20:32)
Let’s thank God for our families…Bill Stockham
