“I feel deep concern for these people…They don’t have anything to eat. His disciples answered him. “There is nothing here,” they said. “WHERE CAN ANYONE GET ENOUGH BREAD TO FEED THEM?” “How many loaves do you have?” Jesus asked. “Seven,” they replied.” (Mark 8:2,4-5)
Now, just think about this with me, JESUS (the creator of all things) “All things were made by him; and without him nothing was made that has been made.” (John 1:3), said: “Let there be lights in the expanse of the heavens to separate the day from the night…” (Gen. 1:14)
The sun lies at the heart of the solar system, and is by far the largest object. It holds 99.8 percent of the solar system’s mass and is roughly 109 times the diameter of the Earth — about one million Earths could fit inside the sun. All, instantly there, JUST BY THE SPOKEN WORD! So, could Jesus feed 4,000 with 7 fish? Is there anything too hard for the Lord? How do you think it sounds to Jesus when we say (or think) “Where can ANYONE get enough to do what has to be done?” Jesus very clearly taught us:
“Ask, and it will be given to you…” (Matt. 7:7)
Then, just to clarify, He goes on to say: “For everyone who asks receives…” (Matt. 7:8)
This is where the theologians will say “as long as it is per His will” “as long as it is not for selfishness” and many other qualifiers. Jesus says: “Truly, truly, I say to you, WHOEVER BELIEVES IN ME will also do the works that I do…” (John 14:12)
Now remember, this is the same Jesus who called eight times and everything that is, came into being, by His word!
“And I will do whatever you ask in my name, SO THAT THE FATHER MAY BE GLORIFIED IN THE SON.” (John 14:13)
The bottom line is this: Jesus wants to do things through us so the Father will be glorified!
Let’s glorify the Father, together…Bill Stockham
