“As for me, I am poor and needy, but the Lord takes thought for me. You are my help and my deliverer; DO NOT DELAY, O my God!” (Psalms 40:17)
Have we ever been tempted to say “Hurry up Lord!”? Remember this, the Lord always knows what is best for us and when it is best for us to have it.
“Wait for the LORD; Be strong and let your heart take courage; Yes, WAIT FOR THE LORD.” (Psalms 27:14).
We may be in a “pausing point” in our lives, maybe for more preparation, more prayers and more searching the scriptures! I am just recovering from a situation where I pursued something and got ahead of the Lord, now I see it so clearly but it cost me $30,000.00! Dear Lord help me to learn from this lesson, you are always so very faithful to me!!! Let’s look at how impatience can be such a plague for us!
“When the people saw, that Moses delayed to come down from the mountain, the people gathered themselves together to Aaron and said to him, “Up, make us gods who shall go before us. As for this Moses, the man who brought us up out of the land of Egypt, WE DO NOT KNOW WHAT HAS BECOME OF HIM.” (Exod. 32:1).
Moses was on the mountain with God, on a 40 day fast, receiving the 10 commandments. The Lord spoke to Moses… “Go down, for your people, whom you brought up out of the land of Egypt, have corrupted themselves.” (Exod. 32:7)
As a result of their impatience and disobedience (they got drunk, naked and worshiped an idol) 3,000 of them lost their lives!
Say with me, out loud, “I will not run ahead of God in this. I will not try to figure out how to make this work. I will not give up until God confirms I should. I will keep seeking God, fully trusting His perfect plan to unfold in His perfect timing and His perfect way. And if He does confirm this is not his will, I will still honor Him.”
“Peter and the apostles answered, “We must obey God…” (Act 5:29)
