“This, then, is how you should pray: “‘Our Father in heaven, hallowed be YOUR NAME, YOUR KINGDOM come, YOUR WILL be done…’” (Matt. 6:9-10)
It is ALL about our Heavenly Father! When Jesus was faced with being beaten and subject to dying on the cross, He prayed this: “Nevertheless, not my will, but yours, be done.” (Luke 22:42)
So, for an example for us, as to how we should pray, no matter the consequences – NOT MY WILL BUT YOUR WILL BE DONE! When we sincerely come to God with this attitude, HE WILL reveal His will to us! He may choose to reveal the whole picture to us or just what our next step will be. Our reaction must be obedience, this demonstrates our love for God and shows Him that we trust Him!
“…Samuel replied, “What pleases the LORD more? Burnt offerings and sacrifices, or obeying him? IT IS BETTER TO OBEY than to offer a sacrifice. It is better TO DO WHAT HE SAYS…” (1 Sam. 15:22)
We live is an age where we can ask “Google” any question and very often get an intelligent answer, but what does God expect?
“Trust in the LORD with ALL YOUR HEART and lean not on YOUR OWN understanding…” (Prov. 3:5)
Then the Word goes on to say: “in ALL your ways 1SUBMIT TO HIM, and he will make your paths straight.” (Prov. 3:6) 1yâda‛: to observe, to encounter, to experience, to fully know. This is so important because the Lord God Almighty wants us to fully know Him, our trusting and obeying Him will accomplish this!
Let’s trust and obey the Lord together…Bill Stockham
