[In Laodicea Jesus says: You are not heathens and you are not committed Christians, you are not good neither are you evil, you are not led away by false doctrine, nor totally addicted to the truth. In a word, you are listless and indifferent, and seem to care little whether heathenism or Christianity prevails.]
“To the angel of the church in Laodicea write: These are the words of the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the ruler of God’s creation. I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were either one or the other! So, because you are lukewarm–neither hot nor cold–I am about to spit you out of my mouth.” (Rev. 3:14-16)
[Let us listen very carefully to this: You believe yourself to be in a safe state, very sure of final salvation, because you began well, and laid the right foundation…]
“You say, ‘I am rich; I have acquired wealth and do not need a thing.’ But you do not realize that you are wretched, pitiful, poor, blind and naked. I counsel you to buy from me gold refined in the fire, so you can become rich; and white clothes to wear, so you can cover your shameful nakedness; and salve to put on your eyes, so you can see.” (Rev. 3:17-18)
[Come and freely receive from me faith that shall support you in every trial: just as gold is tried in the fire and comes forth pure! You must have pure and undefiled religion, and the grace which yields it, which is more valuable to the soul than the purest gold to the body.]
“Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person, and they with me. To the one who is victorious, I will give the right to sit with me on my throne, just as I was victorious and sat down with my Father on his throne.” (Rev. 3:20-21)
[I bow my knees in prayer that we will not faint, but continue in the faith, I frequently pray this prayer to our Abba Father, who is our God and the Father of our Lord Jesus.]
“For this reason, I kneel before the Father, from whom every family in heaven and on earth derives its name. I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, SO THAT CHRIST MAY DWELL IN YOUR HEARTS THROUGH FAITH. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to 1know this love that surpasses knowledge–THAT YOU MAY BE FILLED TO THE MEASURE OF ALL THE FULLNESS OF GOD.” (Eph. 3:14-19)
