“In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus: Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage; rather, HE MADE HIMSELF NOTHING BY TAKING THE VERY NATURE OF A SERVANT, being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to death– even death on a cross!” (Phil. 2:5-8).
We live in an age of billionaires! Per Forbes Magazine: “For our 30th annual guide to the world’s richest people we found a total of 1,810 billionaires, down from a record 1,826 a year ago, their aggregate net worth: $6.5 trillion, $570 million less than last year.” Do you ever wonder now many of them take this advice from Jesus to make themselves as nothing and take on the nature of a servant? The combined wealth of these billionaires is $11,765,000,000,000,000.00! Imagine what that amount of money could do for the poor and needy of this world:
“For the poor will never cease to be in the land; therefore, I command you, saying, ‘YOU SHALL FREELY OPEN YOUR HAND TO YOUR BROTHER, TO YOUR NEEDY AND POOR IN YOUR LAND.’ (Deut. 15:11)
That was the heart of Jesus Christ our Lord to willingly take upon Himself the nature of a servant, not a King, by the way which He is:
“…I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse, and He who sat on it is called Faithful and True…His name is called The Word of God…And on His robe and on His thigh He has a name written, “KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS.” (Rev. 19:11-16)
Let’s pray that the Lord will help us to take on this nature and be a “help” to those around us who need the Lord.
