My dear brothers and sisters, dedicating your lives to singing for Jesus: “I saw in the right hand of Him who sat on the throne a book written inside and on the back…I saw a strong angel proclaiming with a loud voice, “Who is worthy to open the book and to break its seals?” And NO ONE in heaven or on the earth or under the earth WAS ABLE TO OPEN THE BOOK…” (Rev. 5:1-3)
Jesus had to come to earth, die on the cross, rise from the dead, and ascend to the throne before He was found worthy to open the book. He was always worthy insofar as His righteous character was concerned. However, to qualify to open the book required something more of Him. A GREAT SACRIFICE!
“I began to weep…no one was found worthy to open the book…one of the elders said to me, “Stop weeping; behold, THE LION THAT IS FROM THE TRIBE OF JUDAH, the Root of David, HAS OVERCOME SO AS TO OPEN THE BOOK and its seven seals.” (Rev. 5:4-5)
With the taking of the book, the whole destiny of humankind is put into the hands of the Lord Jesus Christ; therefore it is indeed the heavenly book of destiny. Once more we must notice what Christ is doing. He is not sitting in heaven at God’s right hand, making intercession. Instead, He moves forward to take the seven-sealed book CONTAINING THE JUDGMENTS OF THE TRIBULATION. This portrays His determination to establish the visible kingdom on earth when the time is right in the future. So, the leaders of all the earth cry out:
“…THE GREAT DAY OF THEIR WRATH HAS COME, and who can withstand it?” (Rev. 6:17)
JESUS, YOU ARE MY MIGHTY ROCK, MY FORTRESS, MY PROTECTOR…
