My awesome, Grandchildren, and Annika, Kaleigh, Kate, Gavin; whom I love and pray for every day: “…people whose minds are twisted (corrupted) by sin…think they can get rich by being godly, BUT, godliness with contentment is GREAT GAIN. For we brought nothing into the world, and we can take nothing out of it. But if we have food and clothing, we will be content with that. Those who want to get rich fall into temptation and a trap and into many foolish and harmful desires…For THE LOVE OF MONEY IS THE ROOT OF ALL EVIL. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs.” (1 Tim. 6:5-10)
This verse is famous for being the inspiration for the common saying, “money is the root of all evil.” Which of course is not what the scripture says, but: “The LOVE of money is the root of all evil.” Wealth is morally neutral; there is nothing wrong with money, in and of itself, or the possession of money. However, when money begins to control us, that’s when trouble starts. Contentment, in a biblical sense, is the recognition that we come into the world with nothing and that everything we have is a gift from the hand of God. So, we must keep this in mind because, “No one can SERVE TWO MASTERS…You can’t serve God and 1mammon at the same time.” (Matt. 6:24) 1mammōnas: riches or wealth, money.
HELP US LORD, TO BE CONTENT WITH ALL YOU PROVIDE…
