My awesome, Grandchildren, and Annika, Kaleigh, Kate, Gavin; whom I love and pray for every day: When Hezekiah became king of Judah (the Southern Kingdom, the Northern Kingdom had just been taken over by the Assyrians), Hezekiah, “…HELD FAST TO THE LORD and did not stop following Him; he kept the commands the LORD had given Moses.” (2 Kings 18:6) Now King Sennacherib of Assyria sent an army of 185,000 armed soldiers to take over Judah. He sent his commander to speak to the people of Judah “…the commander stood and called out in Hebrew, “Hear the word of the great king, the king of Assyria! “Do not let Hezekiah deceive you. He cannot deliver you from my hand. Do not let Hezekiah persuade you TO TRUST IN THE LORD when he says, ‘The LORD will surely deliver us; this city will not be given into the hand of the king of Assyria.’ “Do not listen to Hezekiah.” (2 Kings 18:28-31)
Hezekiah was afraid so he did what we should do when there is any kind of trouble, “…SEEK FIRST the kingdom of God and His righteousness…” (Matt. 6:33), “When Hezekiah heard this, he tore his clothes and put on sackcloth and WENT INTO THE TEMPLE OF THE LORD. He sent Eliakim to the prophet Isaiah…” (2 Kings 19:1-2) Isaiah said, “This is what the LORD, the God of Israel, says: I have heard your prayer concerning Sennacherib king of Assyria…He will not enter this city or shoot an arrow here. I will defend this city and save it, for my sake and for the sake of David my servant.” (2 Kings 19:20, 32) “That night the angel of the LORD went out and put to death A HUNDRED AND EIGHTY–FIVE THOUSAND in the Assyrian camp. When the people got up the next morning—there were all the dead bodies!” (2 Kings 19:34-35)
This is the promise of God given to us 700 years before the birth of Christ,
DO NOT FEAR, FOR I AM WITH YOU; DO NOT BE DISMAYED, FOR I AM YOUR GOD. I WILL STRENGTHEN YOU AND HELP YOU; I WILL UPHOLD YOU WITH MY RIGHTEOUS RIGHT HAND…(Isa. 41:10)
