My awesome, Grandchildren, and Annika, Kaleigh, Kate, Gavin; whom I love and pray for every day: “As you therefore HAVE RECEIVED Christ Jesus the Lord, SO WALK IN HIM…” Paul’s implication is that those who accepted Christ in faith ought to “walk“—to live and think—by faith, as well as being, “…rooted and built up in Him and established in the faith, as you have been taught, abounding in it with thanksgiving.” (Col. 2:6-7) Being rooted in Christ means our faith is firm and will hold us up in the storms of life, we are being continually fed by Christ through our faith in Him, and that we desire that our roots of faith to grow us into a mighty tree for Christ that is visible to the world. So does that describe us? Are we ROOTED and BUILT UP in Christ? Does our heart overflow with thankfulness?
“He who says, “I know Him,” and DOES NOT KEEP HIS COMMANDMENTS, IS A LIAR, and the truth is not in him. But whoever KEEPS HIS WORD, truly THE LOVE OF GOD IS PERFECTED in him. By this we know that we are in Him. He who says he abides in Him OUGHT HIMSELF ALSO TO WALK JUST AS HE WALKED.” (1 John 2:4-6) The implications of this have to be taken seriously. In John’s Gospel, Jesus called Satan a liar (John 8:44). He referred to hostile, unbelieving religious leaders as liars (John 8:55). In (Rev. 21:8), the “second death” of the lake of fire is the destiny of all liars. John says that those who claim to know God but do not obey Him are liars, and do not have the truth in them. So, we must be of those who WALK IN TRUTH…
“Christ, leaving us an example, that you should FOLLOW HIS STEPS…” (1 Pet. 2:21) Christ gave us an example of how to live. He walked in spirit and truth; He depended completely on His heavenly Father; He was guided and instructed in all things by the Holy Spirit and He suffered on our account – LEAVING AN EXAMPLE for us to follow. Although He remained fully God while here on earth, Christ lived His life as fully man.. to show you and me how God expects all men to live –
NOT LIVING FOR SELF, BUT DILIGENTLY DOING THOSE THINGS WE HEAR FROM THE LORD.
