My dear brothers and sisters, of FaithLine: Reading through the Bible, one similar phase occurs over 49 times, particularly in the Old Testament. It is a phrase that indicates someone, or a people, was doing “EVIL IN THE SIGHT OF THE LORD”. Life has less meaning to many today, which explains the rise in murders and the taking of unborn babies’ lives through abortion. Too many are ignorant of what God’s commands are. It is quite evident evil, by God’s standards, is rampant today. The highest offenders against God were the leaders of the country. 33 times the leader was recalled as doing “… evil in the eyes of the Lord ….” Their influence, quite often, turned THE ENTIRE NATION TO SIN AGAINST GOD. You see THEY LOVED PLEASURE MORE THAN THEY LOVED GOD. “…know this, that in the last days PERILOUS (chalepos: troublesome, dangerous) TIMES WILL COME: For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, traitors, headstrong, haughty, LOVERS OF PLEASURE RATHER THAN LOVERS OF GOD, HAVING A FORM OF GODLINESS BUT DENYING ITS POWER. And from such people turn away!” (2 Tim. 3:1-5) Mankind has not changed much have they? So ,we need to keep our eyes on Jesus remembering, “…now we are children of God; and it has not yet been revealed what we shall be, but we know that when He is revealed, WE SHALL BE LIKE HIM, for we shall see Him as He is. And everyone who has this hope in Him PURIFIES HIMSELF, JUST AS HE IS PURE.” (1 John 3:2-3)
