My awesome, Grandchildren, and Annika, Kaleigh, Kate, Gavin; whom I love and pray for every day: “Most assuredly, I say to you, if anyone KEEPS MY WORD he shall NEVER SEE DEATH.” (John 8:51) Now wait just a minute, the writer of Hebrews says, “… it is appointed for men TO DIE ONCE, but after this the judgment…” (Heb. 9:27) So, will we die once or will we never see death??? The answer is “YES!” I answered this without looking anything up, how? Because I know that it is “…IMPOSSIBLE FOR GOD TO LIE…” (Heb. 6:18) and, “ALL SCRIPTURE is given by INSPIRATION OF GOD, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly (through in and throughout) equipped for every good work.” (2 Tim. 3:16-17) If we get “hung up” on something we must do as James says, “If ANY OF YOU lacks wisdom, LET HIM ASK OF GOD, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, (criticism) and IT WILL BE GIVEN TO HIM.” (Jam. 1:5)
Here is what has happened to us, we have access to almost unlimited resources, for example, Google is considered to be the best search engine with a worldwide market share between 70.83% and 91.98%. You can find any number of bible commentaries, versions or translations and so on BUT this is what God says to us, “TRUST in the LORD with ALL your heart, And lean not on YOUR OWN UNDERSTANDING; In ALL YOUR WAYS acknowledge Him, And He shall DIRECT YOUR PATHS. Do not be wise in your own eyes; Fear the LORD and DEPART FROM EVIL. It will be health to your flesh, And strength to your bones.” (Prov. 3:5-8) Our own understanding is our God given ability to figure things out. God tells us not to trust in that but to TRUST IN HIM and ASK HIM FOR HELP!!!
“Where is the wise? Where is the scribe? Where is the disputer of this age? HAS NOT GOD MADE FOOLISH THE WISDOM OF THIS WORLD? For since, in the wisdom of God, THE WORLD THROUGH WISDOM DID NOT KNOW GOD, it pleased God through the foolishness of the message preached to save those who believe.” (1 Corin. 1:20-21) In the opening verses the question is answered by Jesus to one of the men on the cross next to Him, “…he said to Jesus, “Lord, remember me when You come into Your kingdom.” And Jesus said to him, “Assuredly, I say to you, TODAY you will be with Me in Paradise.” (Luke 23:42-43) The three Greek words for life are Bios, Psyche, and Zoe. These are like body, soul, and spirit. Bios is our physiology, Psyche is our selves, who we are, our personality. Finally, Zoe is our spirit, the part of us that is quickened when our soul reaches out to God. Zoe is our in God’s Image-ness and is the part of us that can’t live without God. At the moment this thief’s bios died, his Zoe went to paradise to eternally be with the Lord.
