My dear brothers and sisters, dedicating your lives to singing for Jesus: “Then they came to Jericho…a blind man, Bartimaeus…began to shout, “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!” Many rebuked him and told him to be quiet, but he shouted all the more…Jesus stopped and said, “Call him.” So, they called to the blind man, “Cheer up! On your feet! He’s calling you.” THROWING HIS CLOAK ASIDE, he jumped to his feet and came to Jesus…
Bartimaeus’s first act of faith was his persistent shouting! Throwing aside his cloak was his second act of faith, this was a literal decision to no longer rely on anything he relied on before coming face-to-face with Jesus. The cloak was probably his sole source of shelter and warmth, and the most valuable item he owned. He also used the cloak to collect money as potential alms-givers passed by him.
“What do you want me to do for you?” Jesus asked him. The blind man said, “Rabbi, I want to see.” “Go,” said Jesus, “YOUR FAITH HAS HEALED YOU.“ IMMEDIATELY he received his sight and followed Jesus along the road.” (Mark 10:46-52)
Jesus knew what this man wanted, but he wanted Bartimaeus to speak it, and when he did, he was immediately healed and became a follower of Jesus.
THIS EVENT IS IN THE WORD OF GOD AS AN EXAMPLE FOR US…
FaithLine, the bible says: “Go,” said Jesus, “YOUR FAITH HAS HEALED YOU.”
