My awesome, Grandchildren, and Annika, Kaleigh, Kate, Gavin; whom I love and pray for every day: “For the LORD God is a sun and shield; The LORD WILL GIVE GRACE and glory; No GOOD THING will He withhold From those WHO WALK UPRIGHTLY.” (Psa. 84:11)
- Israel found both SUN AND SHIELD in that fiery cloudy pillar which was the symbol of God’s presence, and we as Christian’s will find both light and shelter in the Lord our A sun for happy days and a shield for dangerous ones. A sun above, a shield around. A light to show the way and a shield to ward off its perils.
- The Lord will give GRACE AND GLORY. Both in due time, both as needed, both TO THE FULL, both with absolute certainty. As God’s chosen people, we shall receive both as a FREE GIFT from the God of our salvation.
- No good thing will he withhold from them that WALK UPRIGHTLY. GRACE makes us walk uprightly and this secures every covenant blessing to us.
This explains what grace DOES but WHAT IS GRACE?
- God takes away the punishment and guilt that we feel for our sin and REPLACES IT WITH GOD’S LOVE.
- GRACE: God’s Redemption At Christ’s Expense
- “…BY GRACE you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; IT IS THE GIFT OF GOD, not of works, lest anyone should boast.” (Eph. 2:8-9)
- “Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus…for it is God who WORKS IN YOU both TO WILL and TO DO for His good pleasure.” (Phil. 2:5, 13) This reveals to us that we have THE MIND OF CHRIST so God can WORK IN US to give us THE DESIRE (to will) and THE POWER (to do) to do HIS WILL.
SO, GRACE IS THE DESIRE AND THE POWER TO DO GOD’S WILL!!!
