(Num 24:1). A diviner is a person who practices divination. They try to foretell future events or discover hidden knowledge by the OCCULT OR SUPERNATURAL MEANS. In Jamaica, the older folks called these diviners, “Reader” Many people including Christians would visit them so that they can predict their future or diagnose and treat their illnesses or problems. In these “last days,” we can see many of these diviners in the form of psychic, spiritualists and astrologers. Some of them are also false prophets and evangelists who dabbled in witchcraft to enhance their ministries. So, how do we know who to believe?
“Beloved, do not believe every spirit…TEST THE SPIRITS, whether THEY ARE OF GOD…false prophets have gone out into the world. By this you know the Spirit of God: Every spirit that CONFESSES THAT JESUS CHRIST HAS COME IN THE FLESH is of God, and every spirit that does not confess that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh IS NOT OF GOD. And THIS IS THE SPIRIT OF THE ANTICHRIST, which…is now already in the world. YOU ARE OF GOD…and have overcome them, because HE WHO IS IN YOU IS GREATER THAN HE WHO IS IN THE WORLD.” (1 John 4:1-4)
