But a poor widow came and put in TWO VERY SMALL COPPER COINS, worth only a few cents.” (Mark 12:41-42)
We’re not talking about our tithes, that 10% belongs to God! We are talking about offerings for the needs of the church, the poor and needy and missionary offerings and the like…
“Calling his disciples to him, Jesus said, “Truly I tell you, this poor widow has put more into the treasury than all the others. THEY ALL GAVE OUT OF THEIR WEALTH; BUT SHE, OUT OF HER POVERTY, PUT IN EVERYTHING—all she had to live on.” (Mark 12:43-44)
Talk to the Lord about special needs, He will direct you what to give. Remember when there were many without food, Jesus took up an offering and received five loaves of bread and two fish, with that He fed 5,000 men plus women and children. When they were done eating there were twelve basketfuls of broken pieces left over. The key is prayerfully seeking the Lord and giving as He directs…
“Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for GOD LOVES A CHEERFUL GIVER.” (2 Corin. 9:7)
GIVE, AND IT WILL BE GIVEN TO YOU. A GOOD MEASURE, PRESSED DOWN, SHAKEN TOGETHER AND RUNNING OVER… (Luke 6:38)
