So, as The Lord God was writing on stone tablets the 10 commandments the people were committing grievous sin against God. Moses was sent down to put an end to their sin. “The next day Moses said to the people, “You have committed a great sin. But now I will go up to the LORD; perhaps I can make atonement for your sin.” So Moses went back to the LORD and said, “Oh, what a great sin these people have committed! They have made themselves gods of gold. But now, PLEASE FORGIVE THEIR SIN—BUT IF NOT, THEN BLOT ME OUT OF THE BOOK YOU HAVE WRITTEN.” The LORD replied to Moses, “WHOEVER HAS SINNED AGAINST ME I WILL BLOT OUT OF MY BOOK.” (Exo. 32:30-33) This book is referred to as “The Book of Life.” And yes, if we sin against God OUR NAMES CAN BE BLOTTED OUT of the Book of Life…
“I saw the dead, the small and the great, stand before God…another book was opened, which is THE BOOK OF LIFE…if anyone was not found having been written in the Book of Life, he was cast into the Lake of Fire.” (Rev. 20:12-15) How do we make sure our name is written in this book? “REPENT AND BE CONVERTED, that your sins MAY BE BLOTTED OUT…” (Acts 3:19)
