02-10-19 Loved One’s Devotion A JOYFUL FREEDOM FROM SIN’S DESTRUCTIVE INFLUENCE…

My awesome, Grandchildren, and Annika, Kaleigh, Kate, Gavin; whom I love and pray for every day…While they were eating, Jesus took bread (unleavened), and when He had given thanks, He broke it and gave it to His disciples, saying, TAKE AND EAT; THIS IS MY BODY.” Then He took a cup, and when He had given thanks, He gave it to them, saying, DRINK FROM IT, ALL OF YOU. THIS IS MY BLOOD OF THE COVENANT, WHICH IS POURED OUT FOR MANY FOR THE FORGIVENESS OF SINS.” (Matt. 26:26-29)

The Lord’s Supper redefined the Passover meal as a celebration of God’s second and greatest act of redemption, through the sacrificial death of Christ on the cross. Because Jesus was innocent of any wrongdoing, HIS WILLING SACRIFICE ALLOWED GOD TO FORGIVE SINNERS OF THEIR TRANSGRESSIONS. For believers, God’s establishment of this new covenant of forgiveness and release from sin should result in A JOYFUL FREEDOM FROM SIN’S DESTRUCTIVE INFLUENCE. Paul admonishes the church at Corinth for allowing sin and not dealing with it so, he says: Your boasting is not good. Get rid of the old yeast (the sin), so that you may be a new unleavened batch—as you really are. For Christ, our Passover lamb, has been sacrificed. Therefore let us keep the Festival, not with the old bread leavened with malice and wickedness, but WITH THE UNLEAVENED BREAD OF SINCERITY AND TRUTH. (1 Corin. 5:6-8)
