With the size of around 1 to 2 millimeters, For a first-century famer, a variant of mustard seed the black mustard seed was the smallest seed that they had ever sown. Jesus used the mustard seed as an analogy for the KINGDOM OF GOD and He also encouraged His disciples to have MUSTARD SEED–SIZED FAITH. Why is the mustard seed important to believers of today? The mustard seed is pure, that’s just what it is! We may not have “big” faith but as long as it is “pure” faith, not mixed WITH DOUBT…
As the ambassadors of Christ we need to be about “planting” this essential seed. We plant, we water, God WILL MAKE IT GROW…Now, WHAT ABOUT OUR FAITH?
The disciples were having a problem casting out a devil and wanted to know why, Jesus said to them: “Because you have SO 1LITTLE FAITH. Truly I tell you, IF YOU HAVE FAITH AS SMALL AS A MUSTARD SEED, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. NOTHING WILL BE IMPOSSIBLE FOR YOU.” (Matt. 17:20) 1apistia: unfaithfulness, faithlessness, unbelief. In the KJV it correctly says: “BECAUSE OF YOUR UNBELIEF…”
